HOW THE BUDDY PROGRAM WORKS...
ENQUIRY
GLOBAL STUDENT INSTITUTE GSI TOUR DIRECTOR
...approaches potential Host Schools who would be suitable for and interested in hosting the tour.
THE VISITING INSTITUTION
...seeks recommendations, advice and quotations from an Education Agent.
THE EDUCATION AGENT
...gathers information on programs run at potential host schools by Global Student Institute.
THE HOST SCHOOL
...accepting the tour will appoint a Host School Contact person.
PREPARATION
GSI TOUR DIRECTOR

Manages Homestay Family recruitment, registration and produces profiles & lists for all parties invlolved

Finalises itinerary negotiations between the Visiting Institution and the Host School
-
Makes all activity and transportation bookings
-
Appoints a GSI Coordinator and any other staff required
THE HOST SCHOOL CONTACT
...is often a language teacher but could be any staff member of either the academic or administration departments

Assists GSI in advertising for Homestay Families from within the school community

Arranges the afternoon integration and/or mixing activities with Host School students
HOMESTAY FAMILIES​

Complete the application forms
-
Meet with the GSI Coordinator for an interview/home inspection.

Attend the Homestay Orientation Session prior to the Group's arrival
THE EDUCATION AGENT
-
In most cases, arranges flights, airport transfers, travel documents and travel insurance
-
Provides a pre-departure information session and delivers the final tour details, Homestay Profiles and lists received from GSI
THE GSI COORDINATOR
-
Homestay Family advertising, recruitment and registration
-
Homestay Interviews and inspections
-
Schedules the Homestay Orientation Session
-
Delivers all completed Homestay forms to the GSI Tour Director who collates the information and sends it to the Education Agent
ARRIVAL
THE VISITING GROUP
...will have one accompanying chaperone, or more, with them from the Visiting Institution.

The Education Agent may also employ a Tour Conductor (TC) to support them during the program
GSI ENGLISH TEACHER
Some tours may require more than one English Teacher. In some cases the GSI Coordinator will also be an English Teacher.
HOST SCHOOL CONTACT

Welcome & Campus Tour

Troubleshoots in regards to the integration sessions with the GSI Coordinator and the Tour Director, if required
GSI COORDINATOR
..will be with the group on campus every school day from arrival to departure. The Coordinator will also:

Ensure the group follows the school rules

Make the students aware of the day's schedule and where to go

Check the Buddies have met with the visiting students for the breaks
-
Support the School Contact coordinating afternoon mixing sessions
-
Be prepared with English activities should any Host School activities be cancelled
-
Support the Visiting Group chaperone(s) and TC with anything they need
Families and students are introduced by GSI staff and finally meet face to face!
The GSI Tour Director is contactable 24/7
THE GSI COORDINATOR
...will meet the Homestays & Students and send the Group off to the airport
